My first project for HSC 230 was the lip dub video. I had so much fun collecting content for this video and creating this project.  Lots of the video clips I used I took with my figure skating team while we were on a trip to Lake Placid, NY for the Empire State Games. This was such and amazing trip for me with all my best friends and family it really made it easy to capture happiness. In additon, I included a TON of other clips of my team (The Ice Effects).  I edited my video with the Imovie app on my phone, which was kind of challenging to use, I would have preferred to be able to edit on my computer. I edited my cover photo (photo credit to O’Loughlin Photography) with the Snapseed app on my phone (Black & White Light setting and added text).

Huge thanks to my amazing teammates, family, and boyfriend for starring in my video!

I think fun social media videos like these can have a positive impact and be utilized as a tool for health promotion.  Social media campaigns focused around video creation have gone viral in the past (ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and the new ALS Hot Pepper Challenge). People who participate and create videos are actively serving as advocates and health educators without doing more than making a silly video to put on their social media page. Even those who do not make a video are impacted because they see the posts of their friends every day while they are scrolling through their feed.

My personal belief is that health starts with happiness, spending time creating a video about happiness for this class really did impact my mental state. I think forcing people to look at their life and actually capture the things that make them happy could inspire the realization of how lucky they really are.
