For weeks 7, 8, 9 of Health and Tech we continued to talk about wearable tech and fitness trackers. We also learned about VR and AR and how it can be used in exergaming and to promote healthy lifestyle.
I would like to see more done with AR and VR for fitness. I think AR, since it is so easy to utilize this tech on phones and tablets, has a lot of potential to be used as a health tool. The gaming app, Pokemon Go!, took the app gaming world by storm when it was released. The game requires the player to move from location to location to unlock characters in the game.
Games like this are very different than games where players sit or lay on their couches at home to play on a TV screen. I think more games that allow users to integrate tech and gaming into moving and being outside could be beneficial to the overall population.
Another topic I looked into for this reflection was public advocacy campaigns. I found 2 examples that are less know than the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, but still successful inspired a movement on the various social media platforms.
