For weeks 5,6, and 7 of Health and Tech we continued to cover a variety of topics about how technology related to our health, and how it can be used to promote our own skills. Technology is a tool for health, and it's important to look at how it can be used to educate others, and how I could use it to work with clients in my future career.
One article grabbed my attention, about how both wearable tech and the increased availability of fitness classes and even personalized fitness programs designed completely online, is creating competition for trainers and health professionals. I don't see it this way, I think if fitness professionals can learn to use tech as a a tool it can be helpful for them. Many specialists have learned how to create a credible online profile for themselves and their brand.
One of my favorites is Casey Ho of Blogilates
Casey created an online following through her website, Youtube channel, and other social networks of fun, brightly colored, workout videos to the beat of pop songs, called "Pop Pilates". She also posts PIIT (Pilates Intensive Interval Training) videos.
Casey has expanded her reach into fitness clothing, a brand called Popflex Active.
Casey's isn't the only fitness fueled online brand that has come into popularity. Hundreds of health bloggers, instagramers, and youtubers are making money off of their content by posting it online.
Not only can someone looking to improve their fitness find full equipment-less workouts, diet plans, and motivation online, they can also track their progress. Health tracking applications are easy to find in any app store, and can often be coupled with wearable tech (like the apple watch or fitbit trackers) to make them even more user friendly.
I spent the week working on really adding content to my personal Instagram account. Coming up with content was not as easy as I thought it would be. Here's the link to my account @wyomawellness
