Key Features:
Customizable home-screen
Pre-designed meditation programs
Sleep stories
Relaxing music
The calm app is definitely a great option for at-home easy mediation. It offers a pretty decent set of options for guided meditation for a variety of purposes (anxiety, sleep, etc.). I used the sleep set several times, which was designed to "restructure the way you fall asleep" and to help you stay asleep longer. You have to fully compete each session (around 10-mins) to unlock the next session. I didn't love that feature, though it added a rewarding element when you unlocked the next level, because the first couple sessions were boring and too low level for my interests. I love the sleep stories feature! I used it several times and I did feel like listening to a story before bed calmed me down. Overall, I think the calm app was easy to use. I wish it had more free features, as I'm not sure I liked it enough to pay for the premium version.
Key Features:
Shorter duration meditation options
Kid specific options
Sets and singles
As far was mediation sessions go, I think the Headspace app offers a wider variety and more unique programs than Calm. You can customize the length of some of the sessions depending on how long you want to meditate for. I do not like the layout as much as I like the Calm app, it is less simple to navigate. Headspace does not offer features like the sleep stories and the music options. If someone is looking for an app just for mediation, I think the Headspace app is better than calm. I personally liked the content of their sessions better, I found it more relaxing and less boring than the calm app. Overall, I liked the content of the Headspace app.
